At Good Tree Academy we're here to develop and guide each child, instilling Islamic character, and preparing students to be home-grown scholars and leaders for communities across this nation.
Our HistoryIn late October of 2007, a group of educators sat down to discuss the possibility of bringing to life the ideal school. Over a period of months following that initial discussion these individuals, now the founding members of Good Tree, had concluded that before anything else in education it was the child that had to be prioritized. With the fundamentals of Islamic knowledge and tarbiyah lacking in current models and an integration of student-centered methods only being discussed in Islamic education arenas, the Good Tree founders took a leap of faith and put what others were just hoping for into action. The launch of Good Tree Academy came soon after in March of 2008 during a fund-raising campaign for its parent organization, The Yusuf Ziya Kavakci Institute, as their premiere project. Our Parent Organization The Yusuf Ziya Kavakci Institute, a non-profit educational organization, is a launching pad for programs that focus on Islamic leadership and scholarship. Inspired by resident imam and scholar Dr. Yusuf Ziya Kavakci, the institute's mission is to support and develop entities that instill comprehensive Islamic knowledge in today's children and youth so as to ensure a leadership within the Ummah that is well-rounded and equipped with a deep understanding of the deen and duniya. The institute participates and collaborates with organizations and leaders across the nation and is led by a governance that actively seeks support and involvement in the betterment of our communities. What We Have To OfferCurrently open to students of pre-school through 7th grade age, our school seeks to develop the whole-child through a balance of Islamic guidance (from the Qur'an & Tarbiyah) and study of conventional subjects. The anchor which defines our school is the methodology that is used to support each child and make them well-rounded individuals. Our curriculum incorporates subjects that promote leadership & scholarship across the board so the individual child is successful no matter what. As we grow, we anticipate the addition of a higher grade until we have developed a full-fledged Pre-school to 12th grade school.
