Are All Families Alike?

Good Tree Academy's Preschool program promotes diversity and tolerance, two major values the school stresses, during this week's "Are All Families Alike?" theme.

Today students worked on creative visual displays called the 'My Family Flower Portrait' identifying each member of their family. This activity fosters a healthy realization that each family is special in its own way and has its unique traits. The group continues to explore this theme as they read, "My Family is Special" by Sheridan Austin and works on other hands-on activities.
 
"Traditions are special ways families do things (together), so on Friday we will learn about some Mexican traditions," says preschool teacher Noura Castillon while she prepares for the main activity of the week, which includes a sombrero & pinata!
