My Graham Cracker House On Thursday, preschooler Maryam Zeeshan sat with her mom and fellow classmates creating a one-of-a-kind edible house during their special Graham Cracker House activity. This was one of many motivational activities that introduced the topic of Shelters, from the “What Do Families Need” theme of the week.
In the past few days Good Tree preschoolers learned about their own home, neighborhoods and the functions of these community elements by creating their first books and designing a classroom mural. Vocabulary, fluency and social reinforcements also helped students make real-life connections from these projects.
“Cultivating an appreciation for the simple things in life and how we function with our without these things can be done even at this age level. These projects are evidence of that” says Annie Ghazi, Good Tree’s Human Services Specialist. These lessons helped our preschoolers become attuned to the purpose of a shelter. Simultaneously, it reminds us to be more thankful towards Allah SWT for providing such basic needs because lack of it significantly alters the lives of many people around the world.
